Description

:iconluminary-trinity:
Her hair is a light lavender color but I think the shading I used towards the top of her hair makes it look more silver/grey-ish?? It's just lavender....

Only one sense can be manipulated at a time, and the more Melisande uses the power the greater the toll it takes on her. (Symptoms are usually headaches and fatigue/listlessness, but if she pushes herself too far she may blackout.)

Level 1 – Unlocked – Ability to control her own hallucinations/illusions weakly.
Level 2 – Unlocked – Ability to control her hallucinations to an extent.

[C]ombat Method:

Melisande isn't one who likes unnecessary fighting, other than when it comes to sparring, but will defend herself if need be. She typically uses a one-handed sword and most of her attacks are fast but not as powerful, as her fighting style is more about being light upon her feet so that she can parry if she needs to. She wears down more easily, though, because her endurance is lower than average. Because her endurance is lower than average, it's also part of the reason why her attacks are focused more on many light/normal attacks than few damaging attacks, since she wants to damage the opponent quickly so that she doesn't start wearing down before they're disarmed or put down.

[P]ersonality:
Amiable | Courteous | Hardworking | Opinionated | Courageous | Haughty | Listless(at times) | Condescending |

Melisande, at first, comes across as stand-offish, though this is mostly due to her appearance. In reality, she's actually quite civil and amiable (though sometimes she’s only civil because she hates appearing rude), and enjoys making small talk with people! She's witty and talkative, though not excessively so, once you get her attention. She also hates being bored and finds that talking to people, even if it’s about trivial things, is pretty entertaining most of the time, so long as she can keep the conversation going.

She's also very courteous, and will bow or curtsy when in the presence of those higher than her in ranking or of equal standing, though this behavior also extends to the way that she speaks and carries herself; she's very big on "image", and therefore speaks in a more formal/dignified way, tries to keep a set of proper manners, and holds herself to a high standard, though this is partly due to the fact that she was of nobility when she was alive. (She’ll often mentally berate herself if she feels like she’s slipping below her standard.)

She's very good at hiding her emotions, or putting on a façade, particularly so when it comes to pretending that she's not annoyed at someone's behavior or opinions. Though, if she shows it, she becomes slightly condescending towards people when she's annoyed, especially so if they're considerably younger than her. While she may get annoyed at smaller things, though, she's not really angered easily. And even when she is angry, she doesn't let her emotions take complete control of her actions or decisions, and gets over things pretty easily.

While she forgives things easily, if she's the one that’s in the wrong or is put in a bad position, she usually won’t want to be the first to admit that she's wrong in fear of appearing 'weak'. The only exception to this is if the person who is right is in a higher or equal position to her; if this is the case, she will usually suck it up and apologize (reluctantly) and admit that she was wrong.

Melisande also has a tendency to zone out and appear to not be paying attention when she starts feeling extremely tired and listless, because her eyes start to play tricks on her and cause her to have pseudo hallucinations that distort her view of reality a bit. They're usually not enough to visibly trip her up much anymore, as she's used to it, but when she starts getting these hallucinations it's enough indication to her that she needs to politely excuse herself and give herself a rest because she wouldn't be very useful soon enough if she continued straining herself.

[I]nterests]:

Likes: Small talk | Dancing | Sparing | Music | Books | Writing | ‘Elegant’/High quality garments | Being useful | Civil people |
Dislikes: The smell of liquor | Cold weather | Feeling unneeded/unnecessary | Being talked down to | Pretentious people | Off-tune music | People who have no manners |

[C]ause of Death:
She was held as ransom by a man who wanted money from her parents, and was forcibly starved when they refused to comply to the man's outrageous demands. He kept her alive–just barely–for a while after because he kept trying to change her parents' minds. After a certain amount of time passed(A few weeks), her captor got tired of having to subdue her and stabbed her through the chest.

[H]istory:

Melisande was born into a noble Elven family, and was the youngest of three girls; she was born quite a while after her two elder sisters, making her the 'baby' of the family. Due to this, her parents spoilt her a bit, which resulted in her having a slight sense of haughtiness that she still hasn't quite lost entirely.

As typical of a noble family, her parents were very much into the arts and exposed their children at a young age to it. Melisande was introduced to a variety of different instruments and learnt the basics of some, but eventually settled on learning how to properly play the flute, as she preferred its sound over other instruments'.

As she got older, her parents also thought it would be good for her to learn how to defend herself in a fight, should she need to, and eventually after she learnt basic self defense they introduced her to sword-fighting.

Before long, Melisande was learning how to properly duel/spar, and she enjoyed the sport so much that she soon started challenging fellow nobles of her age to duels to sharpen her skills. This is how she met her future fiancé, as she caught his attention through all the practice fights she hosted, and as she got better at fighting she eventually fought against him. When she won, they started dueling and talking more often, and eventually got engaged. Though, they broke the engagement off on mutual terms, since they felt like they weren't yet ready to be married and that they were rushing into it.

A few years later, a strange man started to lurk around the residence that she was staying at. Thinking nothing of it, she didn’t pay much attention to it until it became apparent enough that it wasn’t a coincidence that the man would be there—almost every day—at around the same time. Even though by that point she was suspicious that he possibly would try to rob her or the house, when she tried to tell the authorities about it, the man would disappear for days and she couldn’t prove anything to them. Eventually, she gave up on trying to get help and decided that she would simply have to defend herself and her home if the man tried anything.

A few weeks later, when one of her elder sisters was staying at her house, the elder forgot to bolt the door, and the man managed to break into the house at night when everyone was asleep. The man slipped through the rooms and kidnapped the girl, instead of simply robbing the house of its items, since he thought he’d get more money if he held Melisande as ransom.

The man kept Melisande locked in a room for weeks on end, while he spent most of his time away from the room. A lot of the time he was gone he was trying to convince her parents to give him the ransom money so that he would let her go, though it was no use. During this time, she was forcibly starved and only given water sporadically; towards the end of it, she started to have hallucinations that became more and more prolonged, and eventually wasn’t able to tell much of what was actually happening and what wasn’t. Along with these hallucinations, she started to succumb to fits of violence—while most of the time she was pretty apathetic—that made her captor have to subdue her frequently.

[A]dditional Information:
:bulletpurple: Her hair is typically tied into a bun, but its actual length when taken down stops around her chest area.
:bulletpurple: Her body temperature is lower than normal, causing her to shiver sporadically, and her skin to be almost cold to the touch.
:bulletpurple: The wound that killed her is still very visible, and sometimes gapes open a little, but doesn't bleed. She usually keeps the wound bandaged anyway, because she doesn't really like looking at it.
:bulletpurple: There's a distinct, dull pain in her stomach at all times, except for when she's asleep, though she has learnt to ignore it for the most part.

Quote(s):
"Is that so?"
“Would you like to hear a song?”
“I’m sure you know what you’re talking about.” / “Let’s see which of us actually knows what they’re talking about.”
[Tired] “… …W-wait, what? …Euh, could you please repeat that?”
