☼Personality

Flirtatious | Charming | Easygoing | Ambitious |

Overachiever/Perfectionist | Self-Centered | Gossip | Vindictive |

Heather is a social butterfly; she’s charming, outgoing, sociable, and always willing to put herself out there. She isn’t one to feel anxious about meeting new people, and she actually rather enjoys the prospect of seeing new faces. She’s easy-going and doesn’t get riled up or upset easily, and tries to be patient enough to assess the situation if anything goes wrong before making a decision. (Working hard deadlines with difficult people makes one have to learn how to stay calm and adapt, and she thinks she’s gotten quite good at it.)

On the flipside, Heather is a perfectionist and even if you ask her for a simple cover page with a one page report inside, she’ll probably end up going over the required amount or make said cover page ridiculously well done (Typography, background, all the works). She strives to present everything perfectly, and it is extremely hard for her to lighten up on making things look presentable in her eyes. Even if you think it looks good, if she doesn’t, she’s going to edit it. This can get extremely annoying if someone tells her to lighten up and she doesn’t want to. And, really, if she thinks you’re not going to do a good job, she’ll lightly suggest that maybe she should do it instead.

☼Life Story

Heather Yi lived a relatively normal life. She was part of a big Korean family with aunts, uncles, and cousins who lived nearby or visited frequently. Her more immediate family included her mother, father, herself, and her younger sister. Her mother was a photographer and her father was an accountant. She and her family lived in New York, and the two Yi siblings were sent to Catholic school from elementary school onwards.

It was never hard for Heather to make friends, ever the social butterfly with an infectious smile even at 5, but the only thing that set her apart from the others as she continued to grow was the appearance and persistence of shimmery lights that turned to string if she stared hard enough. The string made her uncomfortable, and she paid little attention to it when she could.

On one of their annual family trips to Korea, they were heading back to their relatives’ house from the family photoshoot her mother always set up for them. They’d been waiting for the light to change at the crosswalk when someone--thinking no cars were coming--sprinted across the street. Heather had seen the white shimmering blur turn red before pulling taut, and the sound of screeching tires and a thud reached her ears before her eyes fully registered and processed the scene before her.

The red string pulled even further, held by a hand that belonged to a figure she can no longer remember, and then snapped in two. People swarmed around the body like flies to rotting food, and Heather’s stomach dropped as the roar of people yelling for the police or for someone to do something, anything, ANYTHING, rose to a crescendo.

She doesn’t remember much afterwards, just that she’d gone home and eventually she went back to New York. Before they’d left, her mother had promised to take her to work with her if she’d speak again, and she thinks that might have been the first time she’d spoken in days.

As she got towards the end of her elementary career and entered high school, she’d started taking up art classes to get her mind off things. Her favorite color became white and she unconsciously avoided red, using it to the minimal required amount if required in homework. She started seriously considering fashion design as something she wanted to do, what with the amount of time she spent flipping through magazines or her mother’s work or fashion-oriented books at the bookstore. She took up sewing classes, dedicated herself to working hard and improving herself, and got a small job helping her mother out with her work whenever she could find time.

She applied to Parsons The New School For Design in her last year of high school and got in. Her first college friend and roommate, Noelle Yeong, was the best friend she could have asked for. Bubbly, social, and passionate about fashion, it seemed like they’d both graduate and go on to do great things. But in their second year, Noelle was killed on her subway ride home, and the progress she’d made in putting the whole thread business out of her mind was gone. Questions plagued her mind--why? Why her? And if she had died, did that mean that the thread that she’d always seen on Noelle had turned red? Did that mean someone cut it?

She’d searched for answers, anything that would make her feel less like she was out of her mind, and eventually found out about Stargazer Cafe. And, well, that made things better, at least partially because it meant there were others like her.

But eventually she had to go back to focusing on her studies, even though it was a bit hard at first, and after two more, thankfully, uneventful years she graduated from Parsons with an undergraduate degree in Fashion Design.

Currently, she works as an assistant fashion stylist and part-time model.

☼Extra

[Likes] Art Deco | Rococo | Architecture | Makeup | Coffee (Lattes specifically) | Nail Art | Bright colors | Neatness | Jjajangmyeon | Samgyeopsal | Biking |

[Dislikes] Uggs (You’re better than that, honey) | Disorganized/messy people | Bugs | Procrastinators | Cold weather | Romantic comedies (too predictable) |

:bulletgreen: Speaks Korean and English, and has basic classroom knowledge of French.

:bulletgreen: She loves makeup; she could go on for days about the topic.

:bulletgreen: She has a tubby tabby cat named Latte.

:bulletgreen: Goes jogging every morning.

:bulletgreen: She loves really high heels (like, 4-6 inches) but she usually only gets to wear them for photoshoots.

:bulletgreen: Agnostic. All that time in Catholic school has rubbed off on her a bit, but not enough for her to consider herself Christian.

:bulletgreen: Makes a lot of her own clothing; she’s pleasantly surprised at how cheap you can get fabric sometimes to make your own personalized clothing. She hates showing up to places wearing the same thing as someone else if it’s an accident. Sewing unique pieces if the perfect remedy for this.

:bulletgreen: Proud owner of a Suzuki Boulevard C50 B.O.S.S. motorcycle.

:bulletgreen: Started modelling around the time she got to college, but had a rough patch of time where she didn’t do much because of the “Incident.”
